Some of the issues

  • Which novel ‘bio’ technologies or techniques are most widely used?
  • Can any treatments/therapies for injury improve on ‘natural’ performance?
  • Are elite sports people ever used as guinea pigs?
  • How good is the evidence for novel ‘bio’- treatments and therapies?
  • What tensions exist between performance demands versus  injury treatment, rehab and long term welfare?
  • Are novel technologies and techniques in the sports injury marketplace big business?
  • Are existing ethical guidelines sufficient? Should any current technologies be banned?
  • PRP/Blood-spinning ban imposed then lifted by WADA. The procedure has reportedly been used by athletes including Rafael Nadal and Tiger Woods, and has the OK from FIFA:
